Distinguished Service Awards 2012
Jennifer Archer receives a Distinguished Service Award of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in recognition of her contribution of private practitioners and Physio First.
Jenny was a founding member of the Northern Ireland (NI) branch of the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice (OCPPP, now Physio First) in 1984 and become the Regional Officer and member of OCPPP Executive Committee. In 1990 she became Public Relations Officer to the NI Branch, during which time she wrote many articles for local and national newspapers and magazines. In 1996 Jenny become the President of the NI Branch. Jenny was elected to the CSP Council, representing Private Practitioners, in 1993. As a council member she sat on both Professional Practice and Education Committees. During this time, jenny (working with Jean Kelly) surveyed OCPPP members and presented evidence to Council that patients were ‘self-referring’ to private practitioners. This changed the way independent practitioners worked.
Jenny is a founding member of the Medico-Legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (1995), becoming its Programme Organiser until 2001 when she became its Chair. In 2005 she held the position of Newsletter Editor and remained a committee member until 2009.
